KISS: 'Kissology Vol. 2 1978 – 1991' DVD Box Set Easter Eggs Revealed

September 9, 2007

KISS' official web site, KissOnline.com, has revealed "two easily overlooked little gems" that can be found on KISS' latest DVD box set, "Kissology - The Ultimate Kiss Collection Vol. 2 1978 - 1991", which was released on August 14. According to the site, a two-minute home video made by late KISS drummer Eric Carr of himself in his hospital bed after he had open heart surgery on April 12, 1999 can be found on the the third disc of the DVD set. To view the clip, select the "Credits" menu entry on the Main Menu and watch the credits and make sure you keep it running all the way to the end. Another hidden gem can be found on the disc's Main Menu. Press the "Up" arrow key to highlight the "Kissology" logo and then press the "Enter" key to unlock it. You will now get to see a one-minute clip of KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons being interviewed with Mark St. John, who was the lead guitarist on only one KISS album, "Animalize", when he first joined the band in 1984. Sadly, the clip ends stating that St. John died in early 2007.

"Kissology - The Ultimate Kiss Collection Vol. 2 1978 - 1991" is the follow-up to KISS' DVD box set "Kissology: Volume One, 1974-1977". "Vol. 2" sold 46,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at position No. 1 on Billboard's Top Music Video chart.

Featured on Disc One is a 1978 news special on KISS, a 1979 interview with Tom Snyder, and the European theatrical version of the TV movie, "Kiss Meets The Phantom of the Park" (titled "Kiss in Attack of the Phantoms").

Disc Two includes promotional videos, the late Eric Carr — who replaced Peter Criss in 1980 — performing at an Australian concert, and live renditions of material from the very un-KISS-like "(Music From) The Elder" among other item.

Disc Three examines KISS' comeback in June 1983 at one of their last shows in makeup, in Rio de Janeiro, plus their unmasking on MTV and some performance footage from the "Lick It Up" and "Crazy Nights" tours, along with a complete 1990 Detroit show.
